How to Prevent Online Emotional Affairs: A Biblical View

You have seen it, heard about it and wallowed in online emotional affairs. You thought it was not going to do anyone any harm if you just chatted a little. It was exciting to have a little secret all to yourself away from your partner who had no clue as to what was going on. For the moment you were safe and satisfied.

Then suddenly your significant other was now someone on the other side of a monitor and your real partner was someone to avoid. you chatted it up and even used words like "sweetheart" and "darling".

The idea occurred to both of you to possibly meet somewhere "just for coffee". Before you knew it you had a full flung affair on hand.

You held back on meeting again for a while so that you wouldn't be suspect. However the online affair cheating didn't really seem like cheating, so you kept going back to that for a while. When your real partner came into the room suddenly, you shut down the chat windows as casually as you could.

Then you felt guilt and asked yourself is online affairs cheating?

In the Sermon On The Mount, Christ says

"Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."

These words of gold are words that most everyone wants to ignore.

They can't believe that it starts with just a look of lust. but where else can it start? I will tell you "with a chat of lust".

Christ goes on to say "And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out".

And just a bit further on,"And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off".

In the first case it's seeing. In the second case, well you tell me; what do you use to type words?

The fact is that online affair cheating IS cheating. It starts with a hello, moves into a few lol's, and builds into an easily said "love ya" that sounds so innocent at first. But take a step back and see where it leads.

You can prevent online emotional affairs by following the advice of the wisest man to ever walk the earth. Cut off your figurative hands from typing literal salutations that will work their way into invitations.
